Congressman Steve Scalise To Chair 64th
Washington DC Mardi Gras festivities
The Executive Committee of the Mystick Krewe of Louisianians has selected Congressman Steve Scalise, representing Louisiana's First Congressional District, as Chairman of the 64th Washington DC Mardi Gras festivities. As part of his honorary duties, he has chosen Tommy S. Cvitanovich as King and Jayne Michon Champagne as Queen. In addition, Congressman Scalise has picked, as the theme for the event, “200 Years With Oysters and Beers” thus celebrating the 200th anniversary of Louisiana's Statehood as well as its unique hospitality related history. Considering the King's occupation as one of the premier restaurateurs in Louisiana noted for his charbroiled oysters and the Queen's family who own Champagne Beverage the Budweiser distributor for New Orleans, the theme is quite appropriate.
