Jayne Michon Champagne Queen of the
Washington DC Mardi Gras
Jayne Michon Champagne is from Covington, Louisiana, and is the daughter
of Joel and Jill Champagne. She is studying Art History and Business
Administration at Louisiana State University and plans to pursue a career
in business. Jayne has consistently received the Dean’s List Award, and
has served as Vice-President Standard of Kappa Delta Sorority. Other
organizational affiliations include Prevent Child Abuse Louisiana, College
Republicans, Tiger Athletic Foundation and the Student Art History
Association.
She was a graduate of the 2007 class of Saint Scholastica Academy where
she received the Alpha and Beta Honor Roll Award and the Scholastic
Achievement Award in Psychology. Throughout her high school career, Jayne
participated in French Club, Key Club and Student Ministry. She was also a
member of the swim team and captain of the track-and-field team. Her
senior year, she was named to the All-State Academic Team because of her
exemplary academic and athletic performance.
Jayne particularly enjoys traveling and volunteering, and she plans to do
so after graduation. Over the past few years, she has had the
opportunities to study an Austria at the University of Innsbruck and to
perform intercollegiate missionary work in Costa Rica. During the summer
of 2010, she interned for Congressman Steve Scalise at his congressional
office in Washington D.C.
Jayne is honored by Congressman Scalise’s invitation to serve as Queen of
Washington D.C. Mardi Gras.
